Being Found

Have you ever wanted to free your mind of running thoughts?  That state when you are able to focus on one particular idea, without any intrusions, almost like talking to yourself but in a calm and peaceful manner? You could term that ‘soul search’.  I have longed for this feeling and have come to realize that an environment such as the one you see in the painting would help you achieve this if you aren’t familiar with the process of meditation.  This would be an ideal environment for a state of tranquility but, in today’s world, it is more or less imaginary.
This oil painting of a monk in a state of meditation gives you a view of his mind, his thoughts, where everything is at a standstill while he tries to connect to his inner self. The emphasis is on nature as it’s the best depiction of purity and exactly how he would, we all would, want to see the world today.
The presence of the bird signifies how mesmerizing it is to look at one on the path of self discovery.  The various elements of nature- sunlight, water, and greenery create an ideal picture of the world as it is intended to be.
Every element in this oil painting has its own purpose. The staircase- leading to self discovery, the pond- a reflection of the inner self, the haze- early stages of meditation and so on.
This artwork took me several days to complete as every little area required heavy detailing. Various tones of same colors have been used, mainly warm colors. When you want to paint something scenic, it has to be perfect.
With nature comes serenity, peace, and calm.
