Living on a Prayer

When you really wish for something to happen you start believing that it will. It suddenly turns into reality in your mind.
On these lines, I’ve painted this picture.
A lady, longing for her loved one, sits by the waters hoping that he would be back for her. Time isn’t a barrier because she can envision it. You might now think that she’s in a rush for it to happen, but the content on her face suggests otherwise. She’s at peace and patiently looks at the light of hope she holds in her hands. She chooses to be alone. The sound of the waves, the sunset, they all make a picture of this melodious calm in her head. There is nothing that bothers her.
I, personally, think that when you truly believe in something, you, by all means, make sure that it happens. You work for it. You pray. You sacrifice. That is the belief you’re looking at.
Sometimes you just need to believe and wait. That’s the power of faith.

Being Found

Have you ever wanted to free your mind of running thoughts?  That state when you are able to focus on one particular idea, without any intrusions, almost like talking to yourself but in a calm and peaceful manner? You could term that ‘soul search’.  I have longed for this feeling and have come to realize that an environment such as the one you see in the painting would help you achieve this if you aren’t familiar with the process of meditation.  This would be an ideal environment for a state of tranquility but, in today’s world, it is more or less imaginary.
This oil painting of a monk in a state of meditation gives you a view of his mind, his thoughts, where everything is at a standstill while he tries to connect to his inner self. The emphasis is on nature as it’s the best depiction of purity and exactly how he would, we all would, want to see the world today.
The presence of the bird signifies how mesmerizing it is to look at one on the path of self discovery.  The various elements of nature- sunlight, water, and greenery create an ideal picture of the world as it is intended to be.
Every element in this oil painting has its own purpose. The staircase- leading to self discovery, the pond- a reflection of the inner self, the haze- early stages of meditation and so on.
This artwork took me several days to complete as every little area required heavy detailing. Various tones of same colors have been used, mainly warm colors. When you want to paint something scenic, it has to be perfect.
With nature comes serenity, peace, and calm.

Remember a day

Image specified. Modified. Photoshopped. Sent to me. Ordered as a painting. For free!
A forced birthday gift. (Friends just take advantage at times). So what could I do? I made it for my dear friend who is a huge Pink Floyd fan, plays like David Gilmour too!
Finesse and detailing is what this painting required. I used charcoal, poster colors and oils. Mixed media artwork is fun.
I couldn’t get a high resolution image of the painting because I had threatened to sell it (which was meant as a joke) so I didn’t even get it back to click a good pic!
Nonetheless, I love it :)
Also, a forced painting would never come out well and this did right?

Transcendence

Transcendence – Being comparatively beyond that of other objects. Moments when you feel so confident and it makes you feel so great, giving you that sense of superiority, in a way that doesn’t put you above everyone but makes you ooze with confidence. That is one of the most positive states one could be in, which is exactly what this painting depicts. A kind of meditative state where your eyes are open, you’re lost in it, and all you can feel and see is yourself.
In short, it is but a meltdown in your own world.

Bliss

You know that feeling of relaxation when you want to be somewhere with the sunshine on your face and a good feeling within you? Well, that feeling of eternal bliss is exactly where this painting has come from. That morning that gave me a soothing calm, and there isn't much meaning to this because this is purely a feeling and when I see something like this on my wall now, I feel GOOD.

Every day above ground is a good day

And this was the start..
So this is the first painting that I began with. It was a birthday gift and my first idea to present something was to do something I have always had the flair for. A lot of effort went into this painting as it had to be made exactly like the actual poster but I enjoyed making it just as much (maybe also because of my love for Al Pacino).
So, “ Say hello to the bad guy.”

Light and Hope

Coming from a state of ‘unrest’ to one of Light and Hope, this painting portrays a sense of knowing and confidence. You don’t always know where life is taking you but there are these times when you are sure about making a path for yourself to reach someplace good.
To portray that energy and vibrance, I use greens, whites and blues.
For a 3D effect, I thought of an ‘In motion’ concept, hence the road and the depiction of speed.
To me, Art is all about knowing what you feel exactly. As an Artist, I believe that the canvas speaks for itself.

Unrest

There are points in life when you are led in a direction in which your destination can be seen, yet there is a state of unrest and the reason to that remains unknown. While painting this, I felt an emotion close to that while to some it was portrayed as a feeling of sadness. The way I see it, an unknown destination tells how interesting the journey may be and that isn’t really sad, but intense.
Monotones give depth in a painting and while playing with the different shades of black may have been one of the reasons for the perceived negativity, I have used them to portray intensity and depth.
This is a painting that is very close to my heart and it’s only perfect that it should take the place of my first blog post
